Limousin is a very small region in France. However, this idyllic little location is always very popular for tourists to visit. It may sound like the car, but actually its more famous for its beef. In fact, the area as a whole is very rural, so visiting here with family may not seem like such a great idea. But you’d be wrong.
There’s a lot of things that kids and families can be getting on with, in this region, especially if you like the outdoors. Read on to find out what you can do here!
Darbre en Arbre
Do you enjoy climbing? Are your children into some exciting adventures. If the answer is yes, then Darbre en Arbre is the place to be. This is a cute park with a number of adventurous activities in place that include zooming through the treetops on a series of suspended ropeways. It’s an exhilarating and fun day out for all.
For something a little less thrilling, especially if you as the parents are exhausted, then Lac Mondon is the perfect place. This stunning little lake is home to a lakeside open-air pool that contains a waterslide. Let the kids play in the pool and enjoy the slide while you take a good book and recline in one of the many recliners at the side of the pool. There’s fishing at the lake too, as well as a restaurant and bar for some refreshments if you get hungry.
Better still, there’s a campsite here too, so if you really enjoy it all you can simply stay the night!
Parc Animalier de la Colline Enchantee
Another option is an educational trip to the zoo. This enchanting little menagerie holds a range of different animals include camels and other friendly creatures. There’s also a farm here and a restaurant making this a great place to spend a whole day. Better still, the children can learn about the animals while they stay there.
Alternatively, you can visit Les Loups De Chabrieres which is a wildlife park dedicated completely to the wolf. Intriguingly its found in a delightful forest outside Gueret.
These are just a few of the many attractions found in this delightful area of France. Other options include the Labyrinthe Geant De Gueret which contains a giant maze. Make sure your kids don’t get lost though otherwise you may never be able to leave!
